Strategies for Sustaining Motivation
Staying motivated in the face of adversity requires practical strategies:
Recently, I hit a mindset setback that made me pause and reassess what needed to shift in order for me to move forward. It happens to the best of us. The challenge as a leader is that we have to pick ourselves back up and keep moving forward. As a former overachiever, I never took the pause to assess and then act. I just acted and pushed through and it was at the detriment of my health. Now, I use the tools I have gained over time that I listed above for you to leverage so that when I do choose to move forward, I am graceful with myself, I feel the feels, I ask for help to decipher what is best to do next, and I act in that direction with giving myself permission to change my mind if it is not headed in the right direction.
Setbacks are an indicator that the next step needs to be more thoughtful and could be something different than what was originally intended. Be kind through the process. Remind yourself that you are resourceful. Keep stepping forward.
