88. Awaken to What’s Possible & Step into Who You’re Meant to Be | with Joanna Vargas

Joanna Vargas started her entrepreneurial journey when she was eleven years old. ELEVEN. And all the while, she was being told she was crazy. Even after she had graduated from college and started a dance studio, her parents told her she was crazy.

But Joanna wasn’t crazy when she was 11, she wasn’t crazy when she was 24, and she isn’t crazy now. This girl is just ridiculously ambitious, and she’s willing to back up that ambition by learning and taking action. And truly, this willingness to learn and reinvent herself is what sets her apart from so many people who have ambition but don’t take the action necessary to realize their badass dreams.

In this episode, we talk about standing back up after you’ve been criticized and pushed down, her unconventional learning style, and the questions that help us awaken who we’re meant to be. Plus, Joanna is just so much fun, and she had me cracking up throughout this whole conversation.

Questions to Help You Step into Who You’re Meant to Be

  • Is there somebody out there who can help me?
  • What do you want to learn?
  • You don’t need to walk this journey alone. No one can confidently tell you who to hire or who the best teacher for you is; everyone needs something unique. But if you don’t go to some classes, read some books, listen to some podcasts, or join some masterminds, then you will never figure out who aligns with what you need to learn.
  • If you want to be a high-achiever, think of yourself as a high-performance athlete. You might need an offensive coach, a defensive coach, a physical therapist, an acupuncturist, and a mindset coach.
  • How does it get better than this?
  • What else is possible?

If you find yourself in the same room as someone who you want to learn from or know better, ask this series of questions:

  • Where do you live? That will always lead to the next question. Never start by asking what they do.
  • Oh, did you go to high school around there? You’re just looking for uncommon commonalities to connect over. And after you ask this question, you should be able to tell if they’re actually interested in talking to you.
  • Then you start making connections. Ask if they know X person who grew up in the same neighborhood or if they like Y local restaurant. Now you’re having a conversation!

Now, let’s turn this into a conversation!
