From Miserable Employee to Entrepreneur: The Story of Taylor Fitness
After Taylor graduated college, she went to work on Capitol Hill. It was her dream career, she had her dream "degrees" – and she was miserable. “I was in the wrong place, but I know I was put there for a reason.” Because Taylor quickly saw that everyone else working on the Hill was so confident in who they are and how they show up, and she wanted to feel that way too (instead of wanting to curl up in a ball and cry).
She transitioned into the United Nations, which was her ultimate dream job, working for the World Food Program. She’s a total humanitarian at heart, so she thought this would be a little better. Unfortunately, it's not like, all of a sudden, 15 years of of insecurities just go away because you get a cool job. So, the same thing happens again.
She felt trapped in the limiting beliefs she inherited from others, and she just feel that there was no way she was going to grow in the business world. So, she set out to do something for herself... although she didn’t exactly know what that meant at the time.
She decided to join a gym. Every day when she showed up, a girl with a 90-pound frame dressed in fun, neon workout clothes, and she finally felt like a bit of her authentic self was getting to shine through. So, she created an Instagram account just to share her outfits and to create something that's just for her, something she could control without having to serve anyone else.
The account blew up, and she was getting a ton of comments from people online like, "Oh my gosh, I love that outfit. I can't believe you wear that at the gym. You must be so confident!" Taylor would laugh, but over time, it grew, and grew, and grew. At the same time, that little 90-pound frame was developing muscle. The comments started changing, and they started asking for fitness advice too.
Taylor saw that she was onto something. “People like me for who I am. They're liking my outfits. For the first time in 15 years, I'm being seen for who I am unapologetically.”
The next step was a blog, which attracted some coaching clients. After about 10 months of giving, giving, and giving out free content, while taking on coaching clients, she was able to quit the job she was miserable at to start Taylor Fitness.
The Mindset Work
But that’s when the mindset work REALLY began!
“I quickly knew I had to get my shit together and work on myself to match the person that they were seeing online.” She dove into self-development and found the The Power of Now by Gabrielle Bernstein. She just devoured everything to improve who she was and figure out how her mind was working, and along the way, she tapped into manifestation, the law of attraction, psychology, and neuroscience.
People saw her transition, saw all the success she was having, and she started attracting a new kind of clients: people who wanted to (1) start their own business and (2) be confident and actually create a life that they want, fearlessly and unapologetically.
So, now, “I teach people how to literally rewire their mindset, whether to call in more money, gain more confidence, just love themselves, or love their #%$&ing life – and it's all because I kept just tapping into who I was!”
