Lori Lefcourt is the founder of Unicreamer, which creates on-the-go protein packets filled with healthy fats. They use the highest quality MCT oil and plant protein you can source, and they don't use any animal products so it’s vegan and dairy-free. It’s actually the only creamer on the market that doesn't have sugar or additives whatsoever!

But Lori didn’t always see herself as the founder of a company. Like a many of us, she was raised with the expectation of “getting a good job” and following the normal recipe of a good life.

So after growing up and graduating college in the Midwest, Lori went to New York City and got her good job. She spent the first six years of her career working on Wall Street, traveling the world as an interest rate swap broker for emerging markets. In the midst of a crackdown on Wall Street regulations, she pivoted and collaborated in building an electronic side of the business, and went on to become one of the top revenue-generating female brokers in her company.

“As lavish as the lifestyle was and as grateful as I felt to be in this environment and to have this job where I got paid more money than I knew how to handle, I also was extremely miserable after about four or five years in, and I kind of lost who I was,” Lori says.

So Lori made her way off of Wall Street and dipped her toes into several businesses, including personal training and real estate. She ended up making an appearance on the reality series Million Dollar Listing, which was fun but also helped her to realize that her true passion was in entrepreneurship and helping others to pursue their dreams and live their best lives.

“The ideas were always flowing out, but I would never do anything about them or act on them. It was not in my family to do anything like that. You get a good job and that was it. But I really did want to start doing. I wanted to start executing, and I didn't know what I wanted to do, but I knew that I wanted to get started.”

When you know that you want to live a life that's more passionate, the hardest part is answering the question, "What am I going to do?" But you are not going to figure out what you're going to do unless you try to do things.

So, to get some experience in the startup world, Lori took on a position as Head of Marketing and Sales for a pet product startup in Long Island, where she learned an incredible amount of valuable information about building a business.

Then when an idea struck, she was able to combine her new startup knowledge with her passion for animal welfare to build a socially conscious vegan coffee creamer company that gives back to animal welfare programs.

The main inspiration for Unicreamer actually started during her Wall Street years when her hectic lifestyle lead to various health issues and weight gain. Supplementing her coffee with vitamins and protein throughout the day was the driving force behind her newfound health, and she knew she could help others as well.

Throughout this long journey, one of the biggest lessons that Lori learned was not to lose who you are. “I think in your early 20s, especially, you don't know who you are yet, and you mold yourself into who you consider influencers or people higher up want you to be, and that will kick you in the butt in your late 20s or early 30s, when you decide to move on and you're not the same person as you always were.

“So, I think once you start to feel uncomfortable on a daily basis, once your friends and family are noticing that you're different, I would say take a step back, take a vacation, and just try to find out who you were before this experience because that will not benefit you in the long run whatsoever.”
